Examples of Well-Written VRBO Headlines

Develop your own unique headline with these tips and well-written samples.

When a traveler is perusing the listing pages of VRBO, they don't get to see a picture of your home until they click on your ad. So what's going to make them click? A well-written headline. The headline might just be the most important 62 characters you put together for your entire VRBO.com listing.

At the very least, your headline should include key search words for your area, upcoming events or festivals, amenities featured in your home, and some descriptive words that express the feel of your property. (For more information on descriptive words: SEE

Here are some examples of well organized and thorough property headlines.  These owners have made sure to feature the best parts of their home while trying to stand out amongst their competition.

Amenities:

This headline uses good descriptive words to describe their view and a bit about their location, along with their amenities.

Area Keywords:

This owner in the Bahamas knows that renters are typically familiar with the location of the Atlantis, so they have used their headline to grab renters searching for this area keyword, while featuring the convenience of their property to this popular attraction.

Location Information:

For a market other than NYC, this might not be such a great headline. However, because renters visiting Manhattan are so concerned with location, this is probably a good idea and it stands out among other more typical headlines. Plus, they've used Central Park, which is also an important area keyword.

Open Dates:

If you're the type of owner that likes to update your headline frequently, one idea is to feature open dates that you are looking to fill. If a renter does a search for a particular week or weekend, your home might show up. Even if they are not looking for specific dates, showcasing an available week might make renters jump on a particular opening. You can even incorporate your availability for popular local events.

Special Offers:

Consider including special offers or discounts right there in your headline. While VRBO does not allow specific rate information in the headline, you can feature some special deals like free nights. You can use this tactic to grab the attention of more price-conscious renters or even land some last minute bookings.

Suitability:

If your home caters to certain groups, make it obvious from the start. If a parent is searching for the perfect condo or cottage for their next vacation, highlighting the family friendliness of your home might just reel them in. Or, if a family is hoping to travel with their dog, you might point out in the headline that your home is pet friendly. Also keep in mind the needs of handicap travelers. If your home is wheelchair accessible, consider featuring that aspect in your headline.

Just remember, copying someone else's headline is the quickest way to NOT stand out on the listing pages. Simply keep these examples in mind when creating the perfect headline for your own home.
