Christine Karpinski: Today's question comes from Barry. He asks:
Q: "How often should I update the various portal websites where I list my vacation rental property?"
A: "Well Barry, I think you should update your listing information at least once a month. However, I'll tell you, I actually update mine once a week. Let me tell you why.
The search engines are really designed to be dynamic, meaning ever changing. So the search engines look for information that is always new, current and up‑to‑date. So if you go in and change your listing even just a little bit once a week, then you have more of a chance for your property to show up higher in the search engines.
So again, what I recommend is at least once a month. But if you really want to be at the top of your game, update it at least once a week."
