Ask Christine #23: Examples of Listings (Transcript)
Christine tells owners how they can learn what makes a good listing by visiting Listings 101 on the Owner Community.
Host, Christine Karpinski: Today's question comes from a lot of people. I personally get this request all the time. People email me and ask me:
Q: Christine, I would love to see your vacation rental listings on VRBO and Home away, so I can see what a good ad looks like. And my response to people who ask me this question is always the same.
A: I think that yes, I can show you my ads, but the problem is, you would not necessarily know why that's a good ad. We can look at something that's good and not know why, but if you look at something that's bad, you can definitely see how things can be improved. So what I recommend is, on the owner community, we have a special portion of the website that is called, Listings 101.
And you can find listing critiques, where we take someone's vacation rental listing and break it down piece by piece; we give positive and negative feedback on their listing. I think that's a better way to look at it, then you'll see exactly why that's a great headline, why that's a good description, why this is not a great photo...We have very, very explicit reasons as to why we liked or disliked these specific portions of the ad.
So again, just go to the owner community, it';s really a great website, its got over 600 articles for you to look at and read and learn more about vacation rentals. So just go to the owner community, its www.ownercommunity.com and there you'll find over 700 articles that I've written along with my staff about renting vacation homes, lots of information there as well as those listing critiques.
I hope you enjoyed this episode of ask Christine, if you have a question, we'd love to hear from you. Please leave a message at area code 512‑493‑4340, again that's area code 512‑493‑4340.
Don't forget to enjoy your vacation home yourself...Happy renting by owner.
