Dear fellow vacation rental owner:
If you own a vacation rental in Maui, Lanai or Molokai, you need to know about an important meeting of the Maui County Council that could affect your business.
The Maui County Council's Planning Committee will meet in Council Chambers (8th floor, County Building) on Tuesday, February 13th at 9am. The agenda includes discussion and possible action on proposals regarding changes in regulations for vacation rentals on Maui, Lanai and Molokai. The Council will also take public testimony from people who attend the meeting. (Click here to go to the County's website to read the agenda for the 13th.) This meeting could affect the way vacation rentals are allowed to operate in Maui, Lanai, and Molokai. As an owner, you should be aware of and understand the proposals.
As a fellow vacation rental owner, I encourage you to attend the meeting and to testify to help your Council understand the effect the proposed changes will have on your business, your neighborhood and your family. If you can not attend your voice can still be heard by faxing your written testimony to 808-270-7686 or sending it via email to: pc.committee@mauicounty.us.
At HomeAway, we understand how important your vacation rental is to your family and your livelihood. Make sure that the Maui County Council understands that, as well. Tell them how your vacation rental benefits the island and strengthens your community. Your Council needs to understand the effects their decision could cause.
All of us who own vacation rental properties are interested in what happens in Maui. Please take this opportunity to let your opinions be heard.
Happy renting,
Christine
