10 Ways to Quickly Improve Your HomeAway Network Listing

Easy fixes for your vacation rental listing.

1) Refresh your headline. Change your headline often to fill open dates, attract different types of travelers, and keep the search engines on their toes.

2) Choose an eye-catching thumbnail photo. On HomeAway.com, your thumbnail photo is your chance to visually sell your home on the search results pages. Don';t miss out on clicks and inquiries by choosing a lackluster or generic picture.

3) Upload 12 photos. If you list your property on the HomeAway Network, you are paying for 12 photos. Use them.

4) Write captions for your photos. Use photo captions to further describe the features of your home and to sell the renter experience.

5) Move your bedroom and amenity information to the top of your property description. Tell potential renters about the bed set up in each of your rooms in the beginning of your description.

6) Add specific location details. Use the “Location” section to describe your home';s location in relation to area landmarks and attractions, as well as to denote driving distances from major cities.

7) Update your calendar. Refreshing your calendar lets potential renters know that you';re on top of your game and (bonus) boosts your ranking in the HomeAway.com search results.

8) Completely fill out the rental rates table. Your rental rates now show up in the summary box of your listing on the search results pages. Don';t let prospective renters pass over your listing because you don';t have your rental rates table filled out.

9) Get a review from a past guest. Reviews from past guests give your property listing more credibility and give potential renters peace of mind in renting your home. Send a quick email to past renters asking for a review and you';ll be surprised how many are happy to oblige.

10) Proofread all of the text in your listing for spelling errors and typos. Don';t let spelling errors and typos undermine the professionalism you';ve worked so hard to build.
