Homeowners' Association Meetings and Vacation Rental Homeowners

Attending your annual Homeowners' Association (HOA) meeting can serve as a way to voice your opinions and form a vacation rental owners association.

Let's face it, most of us live great distances from our vacation homes. For that reason, it is nearly impossible to attend monthly homeowners' association (HOA) meetings. Still, the meetings will go on with or without your attendance. Most associations conduct an annual meeting, which I highly recommend attending.

As vacation rental owners, it is our responsibility to attend at least the annual HOA meeting. Association meetings are forums where voices can be heard, votes are made, and opinions are considered. Many good things can come from these meetings. This is also the best way for you to network and meet other second home owners in your association. Networking, in and of itself, is an equally valuable opportunity to take advantage of.

A quick note: Check with your accountant to see if your trip, meals and expenses can be written off at tax time.
