Christine's Blog: Preparing for Tax Season (3/4/09)
Christine is trying to break her habit of procrastinating on her taxes.
Hi Everyone,
So sorry I have not blogged in a while. I have been insanely busy with both work and my rentals. And to top it all off, I've been feverishly trying to pull all of my tax info together to send off to my accountant. Normally I have a standing appointment with her - April 15th at 5pm. (Can you say procrastinator?) Well, this year she informed me that she would be taking off the last 3 weeks of tax season-the nerve of her! (Just kidding.)
We really have sound ongoing systems in place to keep us organized on a day-to-day basis, but we still spent all day Saturday reconciling our merchant account spreadsheets with our banking spreadsheets. Thank goodness my husband is very good with Excel. Every year we sit there, scratching our heads thinking there has got to be a better way. But in reality, aside from hiring a bookkeeper, I'm not so sure. I'm just glad we got a bit of a head start this year, and I definitely encourage you to do the same - if you haven't already!
I'll be in Atlanta this weekend for seminars. If you are in the Atlanta area, come and join us!
Happy renting!
Christine
