Christine's Blog: Did Early Easter Affect Your Spring Bookings?
Before you start scratching your head about lower than normal spring rentals, it might just be the early Easter holiday. Consult your calendars for insight into booking patterns.

The last two weeks seemed to be the two busiest spring break weeks for most vacation rentals. I am hearing chatter from many vacation rental owners about a less than usual number of bookings this spring. Many are wondering if it has to do with the economy.

While I cannot argue that bookings this spring have been different than usual, I am not convinced it can be blamed entirely on the economy. It is possible that the Easter holiday falling so early has affected the booking patterns that homeowners are used to. Many schools that traditionally had staggered spring break weeks (between March 5 and April 15) have adjusted their spring breaks around Easter. I had a disproportionate number of inquiries for March weeks over April weeks, which is opposite of what I have found in past years.
