The Benefits of Including a DVD Library in Your Second Home

Having a wide variety of DVDs available in your vacation rental home is a much-appreciated amenity.

Having a DVD/VHS library available in your second home to your renters is another much appreciated and marketable amenity.  Most vacationers simply want to get away and relax and even in high-activity regions, renters need to unwind in the evenings before setting out to ski, swim, hike, etc. the next day.

Where to Find Inexpensive DVDs and Videos

You can get a lot of older brand new DVDs for less than $10 these days and VHS tapes for less than $5.

Look for new DVDs and Videos at:

  • Wal-Mart

Look for used DVDs and Videos at:

  • Local library
  • Thrift stores
  • Video stores
  • eBay
  • Craigslist

A DVD library is a much appreciated amenity for your cabin rental.

Another idea:  If you've switched most of the movies at your primary home to DVDs and have a store of VHS tapes lying around unused, stock them in your vacation rental property with a VCR instead of throwing them out.

A DVD/VHS library would be especially appreciated in remote areas without a nearby video store.

Types of Movies to Stock

I'd recommend stocking your vacation home with a variety family friendly movies with unisex appeal, as well as, movies specifically for guys, gals, and kids.
