Barbeque For Your Vacation Rental Home

A barbeque grill is something families on vacation expect, especially for properties in summer destinations.

Barbeque grills are inexpensive amenities to add to your vacation rental property. Often times vacationers, especially when traveling to summer destinations, expect one.

You don't have to buy the most expensive brand, but I recommend purchasing a good grill. I bought an expensive but durable Weber gas grill about 7 or 8 years ago. Today, the same grill still looks brand new! It cleans up like a dream, and I never worry about rust. I did have to replace some internal parts for an average cost of $25, but over the years this grill really paid off.

Since a grill needs to be cleaned between visits, many owners wonder if they should charge extra for the use of the grill. I personally think this should be avoided. Consider the use and cleaning of the grill as an expense of vacation home ownership. Renters don't want to be bombarded with extra fees, especially for an expected amenity.

A quick note: Be sure to permanently affix a fire extinguisher in your second home near your grill. Avoid putting grills on wooden decks or under overhangs and roofs. Consider installing a Pedestal Grill away from any fire hazards.

What brand of barbecue grill would you recommend to other vacation rental owners?

"We piped in the gas to the grill so there is no need to worry about refilling the propane tank especially while cooking. To ensure renters remember to turn off the grill, we've added an auto shut off timer." -Ginny, AZ (VRBO #237309)
