Parking Passes and Gate Codes at Your Vacation Rental
Do you have a security gate at your condo rental? Do you have a designated parking spot that your renters are required to use?
There are many logistical issues that you have to deal with when renting your property. For instance, I have a property that has a designated parking spot, another property that's gated, and a third property that requires renters to use parking passes on their cars.
To save yourself time, confusion and aggravation, be sure to communicate detailed parking instructions to your renters. I suggest adding this information to your directions that you send to your renters.
Here are a few sample directions I use:
- Parking Pass: Parking passes are located inside the unit. Renters must display a parking pass on the rear view mirror at all times. Failure to display may result in towing of the vehicle at renter's expense. Leave the parking passes inside the unit upon departure.
- There is an entrance into (Your neighborhood) from the main road through (your street name). The security gate code is 1245 and press the “ # “ key.
- Inside the lockbox will be an odd shaped key. This is the key to the parking space. Please go and park your car in the parking garage and use the walkover (on the 3rd floor) to get into the building. We have one reserved parking space. It is space number 123. To get into the parking space, get out of your car and unlock the pole with the odd shaped key. The pole will then fold down and you can pull your car into the spot with the pole folded down. When you leave, please be sure to re-lock the pole so no one else parks in that spot. If you have more than one vehicle, you'll have to find a space in the unreserved area. There are parking passes inside the unit, please place one in each vehicle and leave them inside the condo when you depart. When you leave, PLEASE Leave the keys INSIDE the lockbox.
