July 22, 2009: Proposed Ordinance in Chicago
Learn about the proposed vacation rental ordinance in Chicago and how you can submit testimony
Several of your fellow vacation rental owners in Chicago have told us that there is proposed legislation that may restrict an owner's ability to rent a vacation home on a short-term basis (less than 31 days) in the city of Chicago. We cannot verify or list the issues that the municipal leaders are considering, but we do want to make you aware that limitations on short term rentals are being actively discussed in your community.
The proposed ordinance will be heard on Wednesday, July 22 at the Committee on License and Consumer Protection hearing, which will be held at 11:00 AM in City Hall Room 201-A. If you cannot attend, you can send written testimony to be read into the hearing record to the attention of the committee chairman:
Gene Schulter Chairman, Committee on License and Consumer Protection City Hall, Room 300 121 North LaSalle Street Chicago, IL 60602 FAX: 312-744-1509
The text of the proposed ordinance, as presented at the June 30 City Council meeting, can be found here. The meeting notice can be found here.
