I think of the guests as my own guests so I want them to have a nice time and to enjoy and care for the house like it is their own. It is a pleasure to create a nice home and have people enjoy it. One meets very nice people.” -Mairead, Cannes, France (VRBO #90463)

“When I get a call and something needs repairing, or if something breaks just before someone moves in.” –Ann, Fort Lauderdale, Florida (HomeAway)

“The people who try and make their budget YOUR problem, offering an absurd amount of money. If they can't afford it why should I rent to them at all? I generally suggest they look at houses which aren't oceanfront!” –Tori, Stinson Beach (VRBO #248001)

“Responding to inquiries when it is obvious the person has not read anything in terms of rates and availability of my condo.” –Sherri, Destin, FL (HomeAway #231615)

“The 10% of people who are just out to make life difficult for me and any other owner they rent from. No matter how hard I try to do everything right, they will find a way to be nasty.” –Jeanne, Paris, France (VRBO)

“The rare occasion when a group breaks the rental agreement and damage occurs, or recently when a reserved group 'fessed up and let me know they would have 15 people more than our maximum capacity (they didn't think they had to count the children?!) so we cancelled the reservation but there wasn't time to re-book. We also do all the booking, cleaning, maintenance, etc. so our summers are pretty much consumed by our responsibilities hosting our guests- we can't vacation anywhere except a Monday through Thursday because we have to be back the following weekend to host again.” –Sharrie, Lake Almanor, CA (VRBO #61876)

“Dealing with the small minority of tenants who are rude, inconsiderate and confuse rentin gour home with staying in a hotel where they can mis-behave.” -Robert, Savannah, Georgia (HomeAway #175123, VRBO #226523)

“When we visit from the U.K. and realize that things are missing, broken or not looked after properly. Also things looking worn and dirty. We also find it difficult to find a decent management company that will both look after your villa without over charging and get you rentals. In two years we have had no rentals from our management company, all the hard work has been done by me! There are alot of 'surprise' taxes that we didn't realise about as well.” - Martine, Sandy Ridge, FL (VRBO #179760)

“I hate bottom feeders. Due to the downturn in the economy, we have had numerous rude people demanding that we drop our prices to ridiculous levels just to keep our property rented. I don't mind negotiating a better price, but you can't get a room at the Hyatt for the same price as the Days Inn, so why expect us to drop the price in half.” -Judi, Fiddler's Creek, FL (VRBO #16264)

“Wear and tear on the property.” -Nancy, Seagrove Beach, FL (VRBO #35753)

“People that try to "low ball" you; i.e., Can you rent your property for $300 a week including all fees? My not-so-polite answer is that I own a 3/2 bath condo not a cheap hotel room.” -Anonymous, Kissimmee, FL

“Updating the rental rates. I'm never sure what the right mix is.” -Silvia

“Time wasting enquiries and scammers. People who try to negotiate for the sake of negotiating. They may not be serious enquiries at all. It actually does not work and it is better to stick to what you think your property is worth.  I have very little damage to the house so that has not been an issue.” -Mairead, Cannes, France (VRBO #90463)

“Sometime we have a problem arranging a cleaner for a quick turn around. Just some times though as we use a family with lots of members and someone will do the job because we over pay a bit.” -Frank and Sandy, Venice Beach, CA (HomeAway #157275, VRBO #59196

“Not getting responses from people who inquire. I would like to know the reason they didn't select our condo.” -Anonymous

“Living 12 hours away, I sometimes worry that the keys will not be put back for the next renter. I also am concerned that my housekeeper/manager will unintentionally get check-in check-out days wrong and the condo will not be ready for the renters. There is also the concern that renters will ruin or destroy thing in the condo.” -J, North Myrtle Beach

“Cleaning fees and limited cleaning professionals in the area.” -Wendy, Long Barn, CA (VacationRentals.com #1494)

“Sharing our beach house with renters that don't appreciate it.” -J. Wagner, Outer Banks, NC (HomeAway #132778)
