How to Write about Your Vacation Rental Property's Location
The description of your vacation rental property's location is a vital component of your ad and should not be overlooked.
• Take advantage of the text description field. This is a good place to talk about the local area and landmarks as well as local art, music, or festivals that you think potential renters might enjoy while staying at your vacation rental property. Remember, each thing you enter will not only inform and attract renters, but you also may be optimizing your property page for the search engines like Yahoo! and Google. • Use landmarks to describe where your vacation home is located. For instance if you know that most of your renters ask you how far your property is from Acadia National Park or how far to Bar Harbor, be sure to fully describe these details in your advertisement. • Be specific. Often renters are looking for a property that is close to specific attractions. Instead of writing “near tourist attractions, shopping, and restaurants” list them by name. • Use accesible measures of distance. If most of your renters from the US then put all measures of distance in miles. If your most of your guests are from outside the US, measure your distance in kilometers. • Choose the right location type. If your second home is on (or near) a beach, lake, river, resort, downtown area, mountain, village, town, or rural area, make sure that you check the location type box. Many renters use these categories to narrow down their search.
