Top Five Things You Should Compensate Your Housekeeper For

Compensating your housekeeper for their extra work.

Since our housekeepers are our eyes, our ears, and local connection to our properties, it's easy to lean on them for every little thing, but don't forget to compensate their extra work.

Top 5 things you should compensate your housekeeper for:

  1. Every extra minute that he/she spends cleaning your property after renters have left it excessively messy
  2. House calls to your housekeeper (missing parking passes, problems with the property, etc.)
  3. Assistance with coordinating maintenance (lets in a plumber, electrician, phone company, etc.)
  4. Runs to the store for supplies needed for your property
  5. Deep cleaning or other “out of the ordinary” services

Bottom line is your cleaning person is your lifeline. You want to your housekeeper happy.

A quick note: If excessive cleaning is required subsequent to a guests departure, keep a disposable camera in your closet available for the housekeeper to use. Instruct your housekeeper to use the entire roll of film where necessary and send you the camera. Have the photos developed, and keep them as evidence for potential deposit refund disputes.
