Christine's Blog: New Technology and the New Year (1/8/08)

Christine chats about new developments at HomeAway and how to make sure you're getting your inquiries.

Happy New Year Everyone!

Hope you had fun and relaxing holidays. I had a nice vacation—we stayed in a vacation rental (but of course!). I did have something bad happen to me while on vacation—I dropped my blackberry as I was getting out of a cab… and a car ran it over~ that's one way to surely NOT work while on vacation.

So after being “disconnected” for a few days, I came back ready to work. While I was gone a whole bunch of stuff happened at HomeAway.

The new calendars went live (I blogged about it right before I left) and apparently had some hiccups. Some people's calendars were not updating all of their sites; other owners were having trouble figuring out how to update it with the new format. The good news is: It looks like most of the problems have been worked out—some were HomeAway errors and some, yes, believe it or not, were user errors .

Also, our customer support department has a new process for communicating with owners. Now, instead of sending an email, you have to fill out this new web form http://support.homeaway.com. Hopefully this new process will make for faster and easier resolution to issues you are having with our sites.

As you all may know, January is historically the start of the busy inquiry season for my properties—if it's your busy season, too, I have one very important piece of advice for you: Make sure you are getting all of your inquiries. Go to your ad on the websites where you list and send yourself a test inquiry. If you do not get the inquiry, then be sure to read this article!

Have a great week!

Christine
