Should You Offer a Garage Door Opener to Your Guests?

If your vacation rental home has a garage, how do you offer a garage door opener to your guests with the certainty that it won't be lost or stolen?

If you are going to allow your vacation rental guests the use of your garage, then it's nice to offer a garage door opener.

Be sure to have a back up in your owner's closet and some batteries (leave the batteries out of it).

Clearly state in your rental rules the "fine" for the loss or non-return of the garage door opener. As a reminder, be sure to include it in your checkout policy and checklist that you give to the renters.

A quick note: I know one person who painted the opener an obnoxious bright orange. She said, "no one ever took that home."
